DESCRIPTION
Police officers work in a world where there is constant struggle between good and evil. More than any other public service profession; those in the field of law enforcement are in a unique position to make a spiritual difference in the lives of both co-workers and citizens whom they encounter. However; without a firm spiritual foundation, the stress found in a law enforcement career can drag the officer down emotionally thus leading to stress in the family, divorce, addiction, and in extreme cases even suicide.
The Peacekeepers Bible study is designed to be used by individual law enforcement officers and small groups. It is written by a Christian law enforcement veteran using real life situations that all officers can appreciate. By using biblical quotes and spiritual references, the Peacekeepers study helps you discover and understand God?s purpose for your life and career. Chapter topics include issues such as work stress, becoming spiritually connected, developing a stronger marriage and family, and being a sound witness for Christ.
This is a must read book for anyone in the field of law enforcement who may be struggling with the question "How can I be both a cop and a Christian?"

EXCERPT PREVIEW
There is no other occupation like that of a law enforcement officer. Trying to control the peace, enforce the laws, and maintain the safety and security of the community that both you and your family belong to is no small task. There are drunk drivers, violent spouses, child abusers, rapists, murderers, thieves, and terrorists anywhere that you go in the world and the only line of self-defense between you and these ?crooks? is that ?thin-blue line? which is universally referred to as the Police.
As a result of this unique profession there is a common bond among officers world-wide that is instantly recognizable among all those in the profession of law enforcement. However, if you read what the Bible says about the role of the police officer and governmental authority as found in Romans 13, you will begin to see a reason for an even closer bond among officers that few of us recognize, and that is a Biblical bond. Once we recognize that we have a greater purpose in the world and that we are working together in a profession that God has ordained, then the bond of comradery now becomes a spiritual one with every police officer in the world obligated to follow God?s command. Christian officers have an unprecedented opportunity to make a difference for Christ through their daily contacts with both the public and their fellow officers.
The PeaceKeepers study is dedicated to uniting law enforcement officers around the world to be passionate followers of Jesus Christ by helping them understand God?s purpose for their lives and career. As you progress through this study you will begin to see a recurring theme that revolves around four main topics that are essential for the spiritual well-being of any officer. They are; stress, money, family, and discovering your purpose for leading a Christ centered life.
All police officers struggle daily with these topics because all four of these topics are related to one another. Simply stated, the more that you work, the more money you make, the more money you spend, the less time that you are home which in turn causes stress in your finances, your family, your job, and in your service and worship to God. All of these factors can begin to weigh heavily on the individual officer causing one to lose sight of the true purpose behind their lives and careers. But, what if you understood that you had an alternative? That each day you went to work, you carried out a God given purpose and responsibility not to your job, but rather through your job, as you learn to serve others through your police duties.
At that point, the focus on the material benefits of the job and that of any personal issues will began to pale in comparison as you begin to see the greater need. You now view your job becoming your mission field for helping others, and living a life with Jesus Christ. Because of the negativity and evil that surrounds law enforcement officers, many of us have lost sight of the true meaning behind our professions.
But by learning to have an attitude of ?service? and not ?serve us? and leading others to learn about the Good News of Jesus Christ through our positive and Christ-like encounters with the public, some amazing turnabouts in both your personal and professional life will take place. Just think at what our communities would be like if only fifty percent of the police officers in the United States began to carry out their job responsibilities with Godly purpose. I can only imagine the amount of crime that would be reduced, the reduction in the amount of officers killed in the line of duty, and the spiritually lost that may be saved.
I believe Churches would be filled, crime rates would fall, and jail populations would be dramatically decreased. It is my sincere prayer that this study helps you to live your life with Godly purpose as you reach out to serve both your communities and your fellow law enforcement officers as one of God?s PeaceKeepers.
